We are great fans of the Montessori education philosophy here and do some Montessori activities at home from time to time. My daughter enjoys these a lot.

Last week we filled a tray with salt. My daughter enjoyed "writing" on it. She used a spatula to "clean" her writings. Then she demanded some cookie cutters and cut "salt cookies"
