Jean Liedloff and a Giveaway at Smiling like Sunshine

This week saw the death of  Jean Liedloff, the author of The Continuum Concept. I read her book during my first pregnancy and she spoke to my heart. She wrote the book after spending some time living with the indigenious Yequana people in Venezuala.
Her book inspired many women around the world to follow their natural mothering instincts. According to Jean Liedloff, the continuum concept is the idea that in order to achieve optimal physical, mental and emotional development, human beings — especially babies — require the kind of experience to which our species adapted during the long process of our evolution. For an infant, these include such experiences as breastfeeding on cue, constant phyical contact with  mother (or another carer if needed) from birth until the infant starts crawling and wished to explore the wide world(she coined the term "in-arms phase") , sleeping with parents until he leaves the family bed with his own volition, having carers immediately respond to his crying or squirming without judgement and sensing  his elders' expectations that he is innately social and cooperative and has strong self-preservation instincts, and that he is welcome and worthy.

To spread the word and share the love, I want to give my copy of her book to one lucky reader. It is a read copy but in a great  condition as I take good care of my books.

The closing date for entries is Sunday 10th April at midnight GMT and the winner will be announced on Monday 11th April. The Giveaway is open worldwide. 1.
