Derin (17 months) has been showing a great interest in such activities these days.
Transferring pompoms from one bowl to another, good for fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
Transferring straws from one jar to another.
We have a cylinder tin box of crayons and he loves taking the crayons out and then putting them back in. He will spend ages doing this if I let him, however I fear that he might harm his eyes with these long and sharp crayons so I thought this might be a safer alternative.
Water transfer using a sponge
He is a very active boy and these days I find it really hard to engage my children in a common play or activity. Thanks to these Montessori activities which he really concentrates on, I get to do something together with my daughter ;)

That is such a great idea to occupy toddlers.
ReplyDeleteAs for the treasure baskets - Can definitely recommend those. Its amazing how facinating babies can find the simplest of things. We used to make a pretend sand pit using oatmeal (safer than sand for babies) in a washing up bowl and then fill it with a pine cone, a wooden spoon, metal spiral egg cup etc. Babies can explore the different textures as well as having a root around in the "sand".

They're cheap and simple, too. Keep the ideas coming!
