Book Sharing Monday:Lucy and Tom Go To School

Since Defne is starting school in September, when wee went to the library last week, I chose this book for her. This is the story of  Lucy and Tom, two siblings, starting to school. As with all Shirley Hughes books, the illustrations are realistic yet very gentle and including lots of details to look at and talk about.

Do you have a favorite book about starting school?

  1. Kieran loves this book which we read a lot this time last year before he started school (It's hard to believe he's completed a year already!). Every little helps.

  4. Love Shirley Hughes books. This story is good for starting school and for younger siblings wanting to start school. One of our favourites too!

  6. I love the illustrations! I haven't heard of Shirley Hughes before; I'll definitely look for her next time I'm at the library.

My 5 year old who is going into Kindergarten this year has expressed some apprehension about going to school. His best friend from last year hurt his feelings a few days before the last day of school, and he will be going to a different school. We've been having some talks about what to expect at school.
