Happy Friday! Today I'm very happy to introduce you the latest Smiling like Sunshine sponsor Makes A Change. Makes A Change sells organic, fair-trade and eco-friendly baby and toddler goodies.
They have some funky clothes
We were sent a fairtrade wooden jungle block puzzle for review purposes. It has become a favorite with my 20 month old son. He cannot put the pieces in their right places yet but he loves putting the blocks in the little tray.
I also appreciate that Makes A Change supports UKAMB (United Kingdom Association for Milk Banking which provides safe and screened donor breastmilk for premature and sick infants), by matching any donations made up to the value of £1,000 between now and Christmas. How lovely is that!
I have asked Yvonne, the lovely owner of Makes A Change, a few questions which she kindly replied:
What inspired you to start your business?
Please tell us about some of your favorite products.
I’m a huge fan of organic sleepgowns, they are so cosy, snuggly and perfect for delicate skin and really handy for easy nappy changes in the night. You just pull them up and down over the baby’s legs and don’t have to wrestle with fiddly poppers! I couldn’t resist our selection of cute and quirky soft toys (although I have to store them well away from the children as they can’t resist them either!) Our wooden toys are so vibrant and colourful that it would be hard to choose just one favourite out of the range, but I have to say our portable play buildings, such as our farm, castles and nativity sets have been fantastic and have accompanied us on many appointments to keep the children happily occupied while we wait.
For your chance to win the gift voucher , head on over to Makes A Change, have a look around and come back and leave me a comment telling your favorite product.

When my son was born almost 7 years ago I started to think more about where and how the things that we used were produced. It felt important to me that the people producing his baby things were working under good conditions and that no children were involved in the production of his things, so I tried to source ethically produced items or use 2nd hand where I could.
Just this year I felt very honoured to be offered the chance to take on Makes A Change, but wasn’t sure how I was going to manage juggling it along with home educating my three children. But I realised that it was also a great educational opportunity not only for them to grow up seeing a business developing but also to understand the values behind it. It is an area that I knew well as we had become big fans of much of the ethical, organic, eco friendly products that we stock over the 7 years of using them with my own family. It feels great to be supporting fairtrade businesses that mean people can provide for themselves and their families through steady and sustainable employment, while working in good conditions.I’m a huge fan of organic sleepgowns, they are so cosy, snuggly and perfect for delicate skin and really handy for easy nappy changes in the night. What is your favorite children's book?
That would be anything by Dr Seuss, I love the sheer mischief of the ‘Cat in the Hat’, the message in ‘The Lorax’ about taking good care of our surroundings and I particularly love the quote from Horton Hears A Who – ‘A person’s A Person, no matter how small’
Now, for the exciting part: Yvonne is giving away a £15 gift voucher to one lucky reader! Perfect for the upcoming gift season!
