{My Favorite Children's Book:Anna Ranson}

Name: Anna Ranson

Your favorite children's book and why you like it:
Dogger by Shirley Hughes. I love this for so many reasons. It has a  beautiful storyline about the sadness of losing a special toy and the joy of being reunited with it again. It focuses on the bond between a brother and sister and is so human and real in its descriptions of family and sibling life. Every young child can relate to it so well. And the most important reason why I love it is that I can vividly remember my Mum cuddling me on her lap and reading this to me when I was little. She loved the story and I can still hear her voice as she told the familiar lines, almost by heart. Those are precious memories for me now.

Your children's favorite book:

Cakie (3) loves The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson at the moment, although she has a new favourite each week! She likes to talk about the beautiful illustrations and finds the thunder storm picture "scary" and exciting.

Pop (18 months) loves Norman: The slug with the silly shell by Sue Hendra and keeps bringing it to me for me to read over and over again. She loves the page with the brightly patterned shells and says "ooooo!" and then joins in with the "ta da!" text in the appropriate places.

Anna's blog Imagination Tree is full of playful ideas. Do stop by if you have a preschooler or toddler.
