The Barefoot Book of Classic Poems is a compilation of classic poems with beautiful illustrations. When the book arrived, I put it on the table. When Defne (5 yo) arrived from school, she entered the room and immediately started reading it.
She loves poetry and this is a fabulous anthology of poems that we will enjoy for years to come.
Of all the poems she read, she said she loved Cats (by Eleanor Farjeon) best.
Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open drawer, empty shoe, anybody’s lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don’t care! Cats sleep anywhere.
The Barefoot Book of Classic Poems is compiled and illustrated by Jackie Morris. There are old classics like If by Rudyard Kipling, Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe as well as less know poems. This would be a great gift to give to a child for a birthday or Christmas/New Year.
