A few months ago Derin developed a great fear towards all kinds of bugs and insects. He used to scream his head off when he saw a fly or a bee in the garden.
We always reassured him that they are not dangerous and I am very pleased to say he has overcome his fears. My friend MarryAnne has a helpful post on overcoming bug phobias on her blog Mama Smiles.
Encouraging Derin to stay calm when he sees a bug or an insect, asking it to go away, wawing them goodbye, reading books about them and exploring them all helped along the way.
I prepared a sensory bin for my kids which they enjoyed playing with during the summer holidays.
Oh and if you are curious about that giant spider, Derin loves spiders!
